Local businesses grow alongside Ballantyne Reimagined
By Michael J. Solender
When Credit Karma opened its Ballantyne® office in 2017, the financial services firm had just a small team of associates here and a mission to promote financial success. Today, rebranded as Intuit Credit Karma, the company boasts over 700 associates on the Ballantyne campus, where it has established its East Coast headquarters.
The company’s growth aligns with Ballantyne Reimagined, a Northwood development plan unveiled in 2019. The initiative has transformed the Ballantyne campus from a corporate park into a vibrant, walkable, mixed-use destination with highlights like Stream Park and The Amp Ballantyne™. These elements foster creativity and well-being, while supporting Northwood’s commitment to regional progress.
Adds John Barton, president of Northwood Office, regarding the community-focused vision behind the Ballantyne Reimagined project, “We’re excited to continue to work together to make Ballantyne an even better place for all to enjoy.”
Convenient for Meetings
Premier Inc., a health care improvement organization, finds its headquarters at Ballantyne a great match. “We’ve been (here) for 14 years,” says chief marketing officer Kaycee Kalpin, noting nearly 25% of Premier’s workforce works in the Ballantyne office.
“This location is ideal for us, with its proximity to the airport, restaurants and hotel space. The new features of (The Bowl at Ballantyne) are attractive to our employees, who love grabbing lunch at places like Flower Child or enjoying a drink after work at The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery.”
“It’s been an exciting journey to see The Bowl come to fruition,” says Kalpin. “From restaurants to new exercise options, it brings a new energy to an otherwise corporate area. We are using the space creatively, including walking meetings and outdoor touchbases over lunch.”
