The Amp Ballantyne™ debuts with community events, big-name concerts
By Nan Bauroth
The Amp Ballantyne™ — featuring an 88-foot-wide stage and 36-foot-high canopy embedded with ultra-acoustics that faces tiered lawn seating in a beautifully landscaped green space accommodating up to 3,500 people — will double as a public park open seven days a week from dawn to dusk.
A concession building, restroom facilities, dedicated food truck parking and ample space for local vendors are available, with food and beverage for sale during ticketed events. Ticket holders can bring their own blankets for lawn seating.
“The expansive development at the Ballantyne campus is an incredible addition to Charlotte’s thriving entertainment community,” says Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority CEO Tom Murray. “We enthusiastically welcome this distinct event and gathering space for Charlotteans and visitors alike.”
The excitement at The Amp began Sept. 1 and continues through November. Events include:
- The Charlotte International Arts Festival, which features art exhibits, live performances, an interactive skate park pop-up, a live film concert and the Latin American Festival.
- The Amp Ballantyne’s first brunch fundraiser in partnership with The Isabella Santos Foundation.
- A live concert event starring national recording artists All Time Low, Gym Class Heroes, Grayscale and Lauran Hibberd.
- An evening of classical music featuring “Movie Time” by the Charlotte Concert Band.
