Local Company Hosts Charity Kickoff

Segra hosted a complimentary kickoff breakfast with Swim Across America on Aug. 3. The fiber network company headquartered on the Ballantyne® campus recently signed on as an official SAA sponsor.

SAA is Charlotte-based and holds charity swims across the country. The seventh SAA-Charlotte charity swim is on Oct. 8 at Camp Thunderbird. The open water event has raised $1 million for cancer research at the Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children’s Hospital.

Attendees at the breakfast included Dr. Greg Knight and Dr. Brittany Ragon from Levine Cancer Institute, both of whom are recipients of SAA grant funding for their cancer research programs. Two gold medalist swimmers also participated: Tyler Clary of Northwestern Mutual and Lauren Perdue Britt of Northwood.
