An Active Day at Ballantyne®

From physical activities to art installations, there’s plenty to explore year-round

If you haven’t been to the Ballantyne® campus lately, you might have missed a lot of changes! On your next free day, grab the gorgeous keepsake map by urban sketcher Mike Daikubara, and let us be your guide. It’s time for an adventure!

If art is your thing, check out the murals around the Ballantyne campus. Four were painted live during the Charlotte International Arts Festival and decorate a tunnel connecting Ballantyne’s Backyard to The Bowl at Ballantyne™ along Upper Avenue.

Morning

If it happens to be the second Wednesday of the month in spring through fall, Ballantyne’s farmers market is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brixham Park. Stock up on fresh produce and homemade baked goods, or snag a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Or, take a morning snooze on one of the hammocks and enjoy the sounds of nature along the path behind the picnic tables.

Nearby, on the west side of campus, spend time fishing at Cullman Park. Fishing is also popular at the serene catch-and-release Kid Pond. Inhale the crisp air and relax on one of the three wooden benches on the boardwalk dock overlooking two fountains with several walking trails nearby.

Afternoon

If you have the kids in tow, stop at Stream Park, an interactive play area featuring water activities, rock climbing, tube slides, dedicated seating and a covered pavilion. Stream Park is located behind The Ballantyne hotel — a beautiful resort serving proper English tea, sometimes themed for the holidays, on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Reservations are required.
